Aroha, meaning “growth” and “love” in Sanskrit, embodies the spirit of warmth, rootedness, and calm. Designed as a modern home deeply connected to Ahmedabad’s climate and craft traditions, the residence celebrates regional materiality and spatial balance. The terracotta 3D wall art on the façade pays homage to Gujarat’s artisanal heritage, while the exposed concrete cladding adds a contemporary structural honesty. This fusion of earthy texture and clean geometry defines Aroha’s architectural language — elegant, grounded, and enduring.

The façade composition integrates lush planters and tropical greens that soften the form, creating a visual connection between built mass and nature. The recessed upper balcony with a glass balustrade allows shaded outdoor seating while maintaining privacy and reducing solar heat gain — a thoughtful response to Ahmedabad’s warm, semi-arid climate.

At the heart of the home lies an internal courtyard that promotes cross-ventilation and diffused daylight, enhancing comfort while reducing energy dependence. The backyard designed with a reflective water body, acts as a microclimatic feature, cooling the surrounding spaces and adding a tranquil focal point.

Subtle architectural lighting elevates the textures of terracotta and concrete — warm recessed lights, façade washers, and landscape uplights bring the design alive after dusk. Altogether, Aroha stands as a reflection of modern Indian living, where local materials, climate sensitivity, and emotional warmth come together to create a residence that feels both timeless and personal.
